A woman who rang ABC Sydney radio said she found out about the Optus outage from her cat.

The cat has an automatic wi-fi feeder (connected to Optus) & when breakfast wasn't delivered at 6:10 am, the cat went to the bedroom to lodge a complaint with management.

@catsalad The cat presumably wants a root cause analysis, followed by a course of action recommendation to ensure life-safety critical systems are properly redundant.

After breakfast.

@catsalad when I shopped for a cat feeder, I found a good product with two versions. One had a clock you had to set for the cat's feeding schedule. It took 4 D batteries to handle power outages.

The other was internet-connected and cost $20 more. It had the same battery backup, but settings were controlled through a cloud service and it wouldn't feed your cat if the internet goes down.

I saved $20.
