@JamesGleick

1,3 and 4 I should think πŸ«€πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

@JamesGleick You know you can create multiple choice polls on here, right?
@JamesGleick Probably all of the above, but I voted for the one I'm absolutely certain of.

@JamesGleick

To be more specific, Trump is uninterested in the result of the trial and instead plans to use the publicity to energize his base, win the election, and pardon himself.

@JamesGleick I feel that all four options imply more strategic forethought than I have any evidence he is capable of.
@JamesGleick Smart move, make it a spectacle for his supporters
@ErikJonker Absolutely notβ€”except for the possibility of his taking the stand and disregarding the judges rulings and creating his own brief spectacle. The rest of the trial, weeks or months, will be a devastating and idiot-proof narrative of Trump’s criminality. I pray it will be televised.

@JamesGleick @ErikJonker are you assuming that the televising of the trial will be in any way uniform? That seems brave.

You know Fox etc will show Trump's grandstanding and outbursts but will not air any of the evidence and testimony against him. It would be exactly what he wants.

@JamesGleick

I assume if it's televised his team will record it. Afterwards he'll play chosen clips to support a narrative he'll create to "prove" he's been targeted and victimised. He'll weaponise the footage.

@mackaj Millions of others will be riveted in real time, and will be informed or reminded of every detail of Trump’s conspiracy to defraud the United States, witness tampering, conspiracy against the rights of citizens, and incitement of an insurrection.

@JamesGleick

So you think it should be televised then?

I think that would be playing with fire myself, but what do I know πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

@mackaj I don’t know if it β€œshould,” but I’m hoping it will be.
Donald Trump Is Endangering America's National Security for His Ego

Trump has endangered our national security by refusing to accept his defeat, writes Senator Tammy Duckworth.

Time
@JamesGleick You did not have an "all of the above" choice.

@JamesGleick if it's accepted, he'll work the public, his base, and victimize himself on tv to incite another revolt when he loses the case. If it's refused, he'll claim they don't want the truth out for all to see, and he'll victimize himself on social media to incite another revolt.

Option 4 was the closest, so i voted that.

@JamesGleick

β—‰ All of the above πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

@JamesGleick He wants to play victim and get an angry mob of his supporters to intimidate the judge, opposing counsel etc.
@JamesGleick If it's televised, he can summon minions to come kill the judge and the bailiffs to stay out of jail.
@JamesGleick none of the above, he wants to use it for stump speeches, with no thought of consequences whatsoever

@JamesGleick

He has realized it's easier to fundraise off his stunts if they're on video.

@JamesGleick Any publicity is good publicity. #irony
I think that Trump wants to rally his followers, and a courtroom is a place as good as any other to him.
@JamesGleick This needs to be the kind of poll that accepts multiple options. Too many of them make sense; I really think the truth is a combo.
@JamesGleick Like everything else, it's to try to get elected dictator and make it all go away, because he knows he's not going to win in court. Not because he necessarily understands the law or believes his lawyers, but the fact he he's being tried at all means the justice system is all enemy that's out to get him.
@JamesGleick
"Confused" is a generous way of putting it.
@JamesGleick I'm surprised more didn't vote for Bluffing or Confused.
