@eniatitova how is big basin coming back from the fire? It was a regular family camping spot in the 60s and 70s.
@lmc it’s incredibly close to my heart too: I’ve hiked it over and over. all of the structures in the park are gone and there are big swaths of just charred sticks over fire follower undergrowth. the redwoods are coming back, but they think the evergreens are gone for good, unless they replant with seeds from elsewhere. it’s eerily quiet. it felt heavy to be there for sure.

@eniatitova are they rebuilding any buildings? They'll never be the same as those old buildings but I hope they do rebuild.

We used to go to Yellowstone every year for decades and after the giant 1988 fire there I remember coming into the park probably three years later and it was crazy how alive it was with just wildlife everywhere and new growth.
