Diversification is good and not putting all eggs into one basket. I hope to see the rise of peertube and other federated video tech platforms. Tilvids has done a excellent job.

@[email protected] Do you have a PeerTube channel also?

C.IM

@blueghost yes, but I'm assuming PeerTube will be one more way of sharing and not instead of.

The goal is to have LibreOffice provide an option of either YouTube or PeerTube.

LibreOffice provides an option of X or Mastodon for microblogging, it would be good for them to have an option of YouTube or PeerTube for videos.

This allows each person to choose the platform they prefer.

@blueghost @peertube @tilvids

I think you need a "don't care" choice

@JHB17 @blueghost

Don't actually add one, it would reset the poll numbers without warning!

Personally, I'm firmly in the "don't care" camp and was also missing that option. So, how to vote? The question asks whether I positively WANT. No, I don't, I don't care. So I answered "No".

@JHB17 @blueghost @peertube @tilvids

@blueghost @peertube @tilvids I prefer written documentation but if there must be videos, I'd rather it wasn't interspersed with Google-served survivalist BS because I once looked how to sharpen an axe.
@blueghost @peertube @tilvids I think yes, in addition to YouTube~ I feel there's too many people who might not see tutorials and announcements if they're not available on YouTube, likely mostly the "ooh, free software" crowd

TILvids is not a decentralized platform. There policies is to block any attempts to follow their content and create a new walled garden.

@peertube @tilvids

@tr4sk @blueghost @peertube

Happy to consider federating with instances that align with the content we're focused on, and who have the same perspective on content and community standards. Additionally, our long term plan is to help creators rise up on our instance, eventually move to their own instance, and then federate with them.

No intention of building any sort of walled-garden; simply want to avoid the trap of toxicity and misinformation that other general instances have fallen into.

@tilvids @blueghost @peertube

Listen, you did a good job bringing quality content to peertube.
I think that you should reconsider your rules here because, after few years of you being online, you didn't let anyone following your content.
Could you consider using the visibility per videos instead of blocking at instance level? It will give the possibility to content creators to choose if they want federation or not.

@tr4sk @blueghost @peertube

I believe in one of the recent PeerTube updates, users and/or instances can follow individual channels.

@tr4sk
I can understand why an instance would want to limit what videos are displayed on their instance, but restricting follows seems to definitely be against the spirit of what PeerTube could be.

This is a good reason as any to consider where you want your content to be. It can seem like a good idea to join a popular peertube instance, but if they cut you off from other instances, are they really doing you a favor?

Ultimately it's up to them what they do with their instance, but I personally would rather support instances with my content and attention that actually
walk the walk.
@blueghost @peertube @tilvids but not exclusively. I'rather consume the peertubecontent, for people entering Foss it would be nice to find this content on the big media platforms

I wouldn't mind if you live stream to PeerTube either. :)

If already making videos, yes. That would be wonderful!

Do mention that the videos are available on Fediverse in your intro or outro too. 😉

Re #contentDelivery we notice the need to provision services. It is great that TILvids can help but there are Fediverse instances shutting down due to inability to deliver content, such as our instance. So we're exploring a #P2P proposal we're calling #GlutPlug, to help instances stay online.

@blueghost @peertube @tilvids TBH I think those videos - if done for and/or endorsed by @libreoffice should even be shared via #BitTorrent and hosted on #IPFS...
