@youronlyone@c Very true, BLΞ›Ζ†KPIИK and IU have mentioned many times in public interviews that their Manila concerts were the BEST πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜‰

@wlf_warren @youronlyone Yep! Kim Se Jeong's recent concert also gained the same reputation. The best!

Even from Western artists, like Michael Learns To Rock, to mention one, have said their Philippine concerts were always the best. ^_^

@youronlyone

Have you ever watched " The Return of Superman' ?? an online reality show...about (YT has the series- has a lot 😯)

Moon Hee Joon was the leader of a first-generation K-pop idol group H.O.T ( you mentioned) while her mother Soyul was from a girl group known as Crayon Pop
Jam Jam is their daughter- a very cute show. Jam Jam is a natural actress and comedian ( she is like 4yo..and the show is very entertaining ( well to me it is )πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ€—πŸ˜Š

@wlf_warren Yep!

I miss Crayon Pop. I wished they were given more exposure. The format they had is I think a good one. I hope their daughter becomes a celebrity too. ^_^

@youronlyone Looks to be in her blood, haven't heard anything about her lately so dunno??. but she is adorabe back then. They were both talented-her parents and she makes a good actress πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ˜‰
@youronlyone His wife is in some of them, but he is more involved, as he is part of the reality show, more than his wife is. Once in a while, they will play an old Cayon Pop video and she will do her dance routine with him, is pretty awesome. πŸ‘
@youronlyone My wife likes the old ballad, love songs type stuff. She is old school that way. πŸ˜πŸ˜‰
@youronlyone He is such a Good Dad, like the mom role, if I remember correctly, his wife is still working so away in work he takes care of home πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—πŸ˜

The reason we have known the first generation of K-pop artists and groups since 1995 was because OCW (Overseas Contract Workers; as it was known then), and migrants, were bringing back albums to their kids and these were passed around in schools and friends. Some even hit radio stations; or were used as a music for the 90s Philippine dance craze.

In other words, long before the assumed beginning of the Hallyu wave, K-pop was already gaining grounds in the Philippines. Long before modern K-pop started to get popular in China and Japan, they were already known here in the Philippines.

I would say that BoA was the most popular K-pop solo artist in the Philippines because the Japanese versions of her songs gained quick popularity here, along with the original Korean versions.

It is too bad that this part of K-pop history is never mentioned in any sources. Our generation, who have witnessed the arrival of K-pop in the Philippines years before it swept across Asia, are moving on to our next life.

It is sad that this part of Korean and Philippine history will be forgotten because no so-called β€œreputable” sources want to record it. People who grew up and witnessed it are not β€œreputable” enough.

@youronlyone I still have a
old Rap tape with Gloc-9, Repablikan and Gagong Rapper on it among others πŸ˜πŸ‘
@wlf_warren Haha So true! I guess our generation prefers the 70s to 90s music era.

@youronlyone Here ya go.. maybe not for you, but brings back some memories, time gone by ...
