Maybe I'm just not all that clever, but for the life of me, I can't imagine how making a live-update map showing City of Edmonton plows (almost) never clearing my neighbourhood is going to make any difference??? 🤔

Edmonton adopts new snow-clearing tactics after last winter's bumps | CBC News

After shovelling more than $5 million back into its snow and ice clearing budget, the City of Edmonton is promising to better maintain streets and sidewalks during the long, icy season ahead.

CBC

@likelyjanlukas I think the idea is the map will help with parking ban adherence, so that people know if their area has been cleared or will be soon & can move vehicles accordingly?

Also probably a way to reduce the number of messages to 311 staff asking when a certain neighbourhood is going to get bladed.

If I understand right, it'll also show which roads have been completed that aren't subject to parking bans (e.g. ones that don't have on street parking). That would be very helpful for route planning.

@dragonfrog

Last year they didn't put up signs for my neighbourhood (or if yes, did so with mimimal warning). Last year was the first time I didn't move my car in advance.

Coincidentally, last year as the first time my normal 'parking spot' did NOT become the dumping ground for all the snow plowed further up the street.

My take-away was that unlike prior years, I can better preserve my accessibility by ignoring future postings. 😳😬🙄
