I read #YumiAndTheNightmarePainter over several flights during my Japan trip.

#BrandonSanderson wrote this anime-inspired Korea/Japan-like setting romance novel during the Covid days. It's got #BodySwap shenanigans like #YourName, but in a sci-fi /fantasy setting. The romance plot and focus on fantasy jobs was inspired by #FinalFantasyX.

Unfortunately, even if it's a standalone novel, it requires understanding the basics of Hoid and the #Cosmere to understand the full context, so not a good first book of his to start with.

@ojou
I'm not sure if you'd like this one, but Yumi the priestess is a sheltered Ojou who gains freedom from her strict upbringing.
@anianimalsmoe oh very cool! When I finish my cosmere read through I will def read it. I am always very, very interested in ojous outside of anime. And I'm enjoying Sanderson's stuff!!
@anianimalsmoe I’ve seen a lot of people saying Yumi and Tress are great starting points, but I don’t think I agree, they draw a lot on the Cosmere and knowledge of Hoid’s personality and quirks.
