It's conference time again! Day 1 of the #NCTM Research Conference included a great opener from Joan Ferrini-Mundy and sessions about elementary discourse and teaching practices, AP performance, assessment design, and models for teacher learning.

@raymondjohnson No frills?!?
@geonz Yeah, like no exhibit hall, flashy programs, promotional handouts, musical interludes, etc. There's plenty of that at the Annual Meeting, but not the Research Conference.
@raymondjohnson Thanks!! No Exhibit Hall, indeed! Are there parties and Hors d'oeuvre tables (I remember a state conference ...) -- those are the "frills" I like :P
@raymondjohnson ("parties" being "group going to X restaurant 6:30")
@geonz Oh, there were some "frills" at the poster session, I think, and definitely people were making dinner plans. I was one of those looking for a quiet spot to join late-day meetings happening in a time zone still two hours behind me.
@raymondjohnson I honestly think poster sessions are my fave, but that's b/c I'm a unicorn looking for ... I'm not sure what ;)
