Jezz has two hands, but I count at least 5, maybe six Roland Jupiter-8... plus a Roland SH-101 and a Roland TR-808. Playing with Black Sabbath and Robert Plant Band had some definite financial advantage, no matter.

He said in an interview he used 4 jupiter-8 live for layers. Maybe the same sound detuned, maybe different sounds, it doesn't say. My Roland D50 and Casio VZ-1 both can layer 4 sounds, so no need to bring 4 to a gig.

@f_dion Maybe he had them set up to different patches so he didn't have to change patch mid-song? Just a guess.

Or just the pose value.

@blurk it was before MIDI so that could be a reason. The Kenton kit came later. But 6 synths with a $5300 retail each in 1981 (around $18K in today's money) seems a bit steep...
@blurk with my Midi synths, I use a Voyce LX-9. Allows me to use 2 keyboards simultaneously as master keyboard and control other keyboards. I can set up synths/patches sequences in the voyce and recall the patches on the synths in order using a footswitch

@f_dion @blurk I've never heard of that before. Looks very fancy for its time, but for me that's one area I'm happy to manage in the DAW.

Although. Ableton Live & MIDI program changes.. don't get me started. Actually MIDI anything other than notes really. Maybe I do want an LX9 now :D

@f_dion @blurk I"m guessing he got a bit of a discount for the endorsement, but still. He could've just instantiated 6 copies of the plugin really couldn't he :D
