A visual introduction: my face, colorful quilt, multiple sewing machines tucked into tight, cluttered work spaces.

Clearly there is more to me than this. But it covers some vital territory.

This is the finished quilt which was a gift for a friend. It was made entirely of leftover triangles from a quilt I made for myself, and I like it better than the original one. This was the first project I did with free motion quilting. Fortunately, my friend is too kind to point out my mistakes πŸ’œ

@Stitcher I just love when quilters take β€˜scraps’ of leftover fabric and turn them into the most beautiful quilts ever 🌈 happy to see you on .art now

@inarticulatequilter Can't go wrong with rainbows! The quilt I made myself is fine, but it took forever. This project freed me in some way and the ones since then have stirred more passion in my work.

I'm definitely glad to be finished with my stalling in getting over here! Guess I had to overthink things for a couple weeks or so before making it official.

@Stitcher It's so beautiful! What a wonderfully special gift.
@Clianthus Thanks! It is nice when I have the chance to make something that makes someone feel special.
@Stitcher What a beautiful gift πŸ’œ I love the way the colours and tons spark off each other, and the texture of the quilting. It's so lovely.
@Fredatron Thank you! It was such a joy to make πŸ’œ

@Stitcher why should one point out mistakes on something that is big, bright and colorful!

It upsets me that you mention mistakes on a photo of a work of art, where really noone can see mistakes. Why?

Who cares for mistakes on a finished, beautiful and functional piece?

@sibylle I appreciate your kind words! I don't mind making mistakes, especially when learning something new (and free motion quilting is easy to get wonky).
@Stitcher no mistakes in art, only experimentations 😎 . This is wonderful, your friend is lucky
@Twoflower Thank you! I am also fortunate to be part of such a friendship πŸ’œ
@Stitcher I had no doubt about this πŸ˜‰
@Stitcher It is spectacular, but sometimes the love that went into making it is at least as important as the beauty of it. Both of my adult children have quilts made by my spouse’s grandmother. They treasure the love that went into them. ❀️

@R2Ranch Very true! I have a quilt that my grandmother made for me on the treadle machine she taught me to sew with. She and my mom hand quilted it. I need to make a few repairs on it; perhaps after that I will show it off here.

My younger child has outgrown his baby quilt, so I am looking forward to making him a new one (although he may just want to steal the one I am currently working on).

@Stitcher I love the sort of dithered effect!
@Betty I love the word "dithered"!
@Stitcher It's gorgeous! Lucky friend to be given such a wonderful quilt. :)
@macquilter Thanks! She is pretty precious to me, so I can't help but occasionally make her things.
@Stitcher this is gorgeous!! what a lovely gift, I'm sure your friend is thrilled to have it.
@ranyart Thank you! She is definitely a fan of her quilt πŸ’œ
@Stitcher Wow! No mistakes, just character. That is truly stunning. I have quilted over the years but your obvious skill and artfulness with color never has come naturally to me. Brava! πŸ’•
@bookworks Thank you for your kind words! Not all of my color choices come out so well, but quilts function just as well even if they aren't as lovely as we would like 😊
