I got a weird prototype Lytro.
It seems to work basically normally (but I don't have a production model to compare it with)
Also the only way to turn it off is to pull the battery which kind of sucks.

I messed around with it a bit in ADB and got to the launcher. It seems to have a lot of debug tools on (don't know if they shipped any of those on the actual Ilum or if it is even possible to get an ADB shell going on the production Ilum)

And got a picture of some Lego flowers with it.

If anyone is into Lytro stuff and wants me to try to check anything specific or try to pull stuff from it let me know.

A few updates. It's got 2gb of RAM and a Snapdragon 800. So very high end specs for 2014 even by smart phone standards.

The internal storage is weird and sort of read only but it will let me install and uninstall apps (but only over ADB, if I try to do it through the GUI it crashes) It also only has 128mb for user apps available. No idea how much NAND it actually has on the board. I would guess 4 or 8gb)

I kind of want to try to root it but don't want to risk breaking it.

Also about the PC software. I am just using version 5.0 (the last one to come out) and it seems to work with the prototype cam without issue. However because the software is so old I have to run it in Windows 8 compatibility mode.

@devkitsune Wow! ES File Explorer! What version is it? I miss when it used to be good😔

@jackemled it's 3.2.4

I held onto the last release of ES3 (from 2014) for so long but then it stopped working properly on newer versions of Android so I had to switch to FX.

I still can't believe they murdered it so horribly with the bloated/scammy ES4.

@devkitsune Oh wow! Yeah, I have the last version before it got too bad, 4.2.0.3.5. I also have 4.1 somewhere too. There was another earlier version that would hijack the lock screen, but they got in trouble for it & got rid of that. 4.2 has only just stopped working properly around Android 12. A few features are broken. I'm using MiXplorer now & it's pretty good, it's almost the same but it doesn't have a nice home screen or "new files" log like ES File Explorer did, & doesn't have a cleaner or storage analyzer.
