finally found a solution to the problem that you can't simultaneously have two SIM cards and an SD card on this phone

@MikaKpk Consider the @Fairphone #FP3plus.

It has #DualSIM + #microSD!

Sadly, #Fairphone did #downgrade future versions with no real #DualSIM but shitty #eSIM [put that thing on a #NanoSIM instead FFS!]...

@kkarhan @MikaKpk @Fairphone what’s wrong with eSIM?
@MastaBro @kkarhan @Fairphone half the phone companies don't support it, transferring to a backup is hard, its a good idea in theory but a poor implementation in practice.
@MikaKpk @MastaBro @kkarhan are there downsides when all the companies in your country support it and transferring is just a matter of 5 minutes?

@CodexNotFound @MikaKpk @MastaBro @Fairphone Yes:

1. Whilst a court in Germany made it illegal to charge fees for transfers, that's only applies for eSIMs issued by providers in Germany.

2. What device I use is none of my providers' business - period.

3. I want to be able to use my SIMs and associated plans in ANY DEVICE without fiddling.

4. eSIMs are specifically designed to erode one's privacy and options.

5. Not all plans are available as eSIM!

6. eSIMs require an internet connection to be deployed, which kinda defeats the purpose of a "Travel SIM" that one only uses and inserts at the destination.
- If WiFi was available and an option for that I would've used it and not bother with a Roaming SIM.

7. Not being able to just plug & play is bad.

@CodexNotFound @MikaKpk @MastaBro @Fairphone
8. "Solutions" like https://esim.me/ worsen the #Enshittification by combining all the disadvantages of #eSIM and #SIM with the only redeeming quality that one can setup an eSIM on it and use it on a different device.

Personally I'd not consider that a viable option unless a competitior offers a better and more compatible product without bs in their ToS since "#KYC" on SIM Cards has been weaponized for racist harrasment by providers!

@kkarhan @Fairphone I have Fairphone already on my watchlist for when I truly need to replace my current one, as it's the most "classic" offering with a removable battery. Still, omission of the second sim slot and audio out is a hard to understand fail at the finish line, those parts cost almost nothing, others removed them for a trendy design or water resistance, Fairphone does neither of those, so whats against giving us a truly versatile smartphone like ten years ago before enshittification hit, just with modern hard and software? 🙄

@MikaKpk @Fairphone Also even then removing features is not a valid argument.

The #GalaxyS5 had #ToolfreeSwappableBatteries, splash resistance and a #HeadphoneJack - Sony even hat proper #waterproof #XperiaZ Smartphones that were literally advertised for making #Selfies in a #SwimmingPool.

And lets be honest:
Anyone like me who takes #Diving serious would not mind having to pay like €50-100+ for a rugged case that'll do 50m seawater if I ever wanted to abuse a smartphone as diving computer.

@MikaKpk @Fairphone Also even if #fairphone wanted #eSIM so badly they could've put it on a #NanoSIM-Card and provided an #App to use it as an option so people get both real #DualSIM and #eSIM.

Or better yet: Offer the #eSIM as #NanoSIM-Card in their Shop as Accessory just like their chargers and cables, which would also save the envoirment!

@MikaKpk @Fairphone And if that's too complicated, make a #DIP-Switch near the 2nd SIM slot to switch betwern the #eSIM and #SIM card.

Sadly I don't have the €€€€€ needed to setup a company that does offer a better alternative to https://esim.me ...

Otherwise I would've done so already...
