anyway, discovered that it's not the thing to do on my bc rich mockingbird because the strings kept popping out of the saddles if i picked them hard enough.
turns out that top-wrapping puts less pressure on the strings at the saddles, which is great for that slinky-loose feeling, but maybe not-so-good if your bridge can't hang with that. i was worried that reverting back to standard stringing would make a mess of the intonation or action, but so far it feels good the old way.
…and most importantly, the strings are staying put. i got in a good hour or so of playing on the mockingbird last night and she held up beautifully.
