Each of the alleged transactions would come with up to a $5,580 fine under the Clean Air Act. Rolling coal is the practice of tampering with a vehicle’s emissions control system, causing it to spew black clouds of sooty exhaust.

@KimPerales eBay may not be what it once was, but I imagine it turns a profit. Does it not have compliance officers, any kind of employee watching out for illegal activity on its site? Wow.

Glad to see this but it should be a federal felony to merely possess let alone use one of these atrocities. DOJ should charge all the sellers and buyers as well. Usage in a vehicle should carry the same penalty as, say, dumping a tanker-truck’s worth of cyanide into a metropolitan region’s water supply. #nomercy #noexcuses #throwthebookatthem

“tampering with a vehicle’s emissions” makes it sound like this is simply a vehicle’s normal emission without a catalytic converter. It is so much worse than that. They do this around here, and they spend money to make these huge clouds of coal dust and smoke. It is much worse than this article reads.
