During my solidaristic eschewing of all #AMPTP #streaming services during the now resolved #WGA and still ongoing #SAGAFTRA #strikes, I've been relying on really bad #tv via the #RokuChannel #app.
The level of #tToxicMasculinity and low-key to blatant micro- and macro-aggressions towards various #minority groups, capped off by a guest star run by #StephenFry, finally took #Bones off my schedule.
#TheMentalist is refreshing with its deeply flawed and disturbed #white #male lead who doesn't suffer from #ToxicMasculinity as a primary trait, but a deep #psychological—and understandable, if not relatable—#pathology.
There's an often callous disregard and total #narcissim to the character, but almost no typical #macho behavior outside of his #obsession, which is somewhat acknowledged as unhealthy and dangerous, even if also somewhat understandable.

The best show I've found so far on the #RokuChannel is one they acquired when they bought #Qubi, #SwimmingWithSharks.
Unfortunately only 6, short episodes (under 30 minutes), it stars #KiernanShipka (#MadMen, #Sabrina) with #DianeKruger, it's a beautiful-looking, well-acted and written #drama based loosely on the 90's #film.
Only two episodes in and I'm already dreading it being over it's so good, so far. I'm limiting myself to one episode a night 😰
Anyway, I need new shows to watch that are available on the #RokuChannel or #YouTube because I'm on the last season of #TheMentalist and #SwimmingWithSharks won't last past this week, though the #actor's strike likely will.
I did start #ProjectBlueBook, but there aren't many episodes of that.
#SwimmingWithSharks is really good entertainment. It's not perfect or great, but #KiernanShipka is excellent and, overall, I really enjoyed the series.
A #RokuChannel original, it's a good start and hopefully a sign of what they'll be offering.
I love that it's the women that are the focus, and they're all allowed to be as terrible as the men, and the men in this are the fucking worst, as we are.
