David Grant with a vibrant performance, and just a suspicion that he's miming.

Black Slate were a difficult band to understand - the crowd reaction at the end demonstrates that "Amigo" is *different* - but I think it's worth it. And we'd be richer if there were more songs like it though pop's history.

Tonight's second appearance for David Grant, still dancing and finding the camera like a star.

Coming soon to this hashtag!
1995 - Simon Mayo with a Follow That! edition, then Ant and Dec with far too many people who never had number one singles, and far too many people who did have time at number one but shouldn't.
1987 - Gary Davies and Peter Powell, and something from the short-lived CBS Top of the Pops.
1984 - Mike Read and Tommy Vance, and Stevie Wonder's toaster.
That's next week's Top of the Pops, 7pm Friday on BBC4 and #TOTP.
Until then, I leave you with a gem from this week in 1983. Brain of Brains, the triennial competition to find the best BBC Brain champion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2B-BfgkPu8
Whatever you're doing this weekend, #TOTP crew, have a great one!
