Ok I just did a search for recumbents in #Canberra to look at refurbishing or possibly replacing my decrepit #greenspeed GT5, because starting to ride regularly again would probably be a useful part of #PostStrokeRecovery. Does anyone have any experience with this mob: https://recumbent.net.au/

I’ve sent them an email.

Incidentally the GT5 in my user name did come from the #Greenspeed GT5 I rode for several years and put the best part of 10,000KM on and yes it WAS called the #arcadia and yes the name DID come from #CaptainHarlock’s space pirate battleship the Arcadia. A successor trike is likely to be named the #QueenEmeraldas or the #Bentenmaru or possibly the #SolBianca depending on colour for similar reasons.

And when I say decrepit, I mean “in need of a full drive train replacement”, i.e. chain, front cogs, rear cassette which needs to be a Shinano Capreo or equivalent (because 16” wheels can be annoying to deal with). #Canberra #Greenspeed

Possible upgrades (assuming I don’t just replace her), would include a second hub dynamo for the left front wheel to drive device charging & refurbishing/remounting the fairing so I could have my phone as a dashboard essentially under the fairing.

@arcadiagt5
That sounds like it'd be expensive
@anianimalsmoe Quite possibly. 😂 Bur hopefully still less than a new trike would be.
@arcadiagt5
Greenspeed was still operational sort of. The people who bought it from Ian's family seem to have sold it to Greenspeed USA.
There was still a dealer in W.A. after the USA takeover but I haven't checked recently. Which means there may still be dealers in other states.
@Steveg58 I’ll see what the local dealer that I’ve found has on offer.
@Steveg58 They seem to have quite the range, including the Anura and the Aero. And that’s just the Greenspeeds. Nearly a dozen other manufacturers including some e-assist models. But that’s assuming I can’t refit the Arcadia to road worthy again. The frame and seat should still be solid.
@arcadiagt5
From experience with Dahon folders, that joint in the main tube needs to be inspected carefully for fatigue.
@Steveg58 I’ll remember to get the joint looked at if refurbishing the drive train is the direction I want to go.
@Steveg58 Looks like they have some velomobiles and quads in the lineup as well. I’m not overly enthused by the idea but I might test ride a couple if they have demo models on hand.
