So uh… my @purism Librem 5 was the only phone in my pocket to not go off with an emergency alert nationwide.
Pixel 7a with Graphene and my iPhone all went off as did my work iPhone.
I’m not sure how I feel about this to be honest?

Same mobile network? 🫤🤷‍♂️

@simonzerafa it’s not a network issue as their network backend is T-Mobile behind @purism AweSIM. I can’t seem to find the alerts in the phone, even if I don’t want the alerts I should be given the option to enable or disable at minimum

@chiefgyk3d @purism

Ideally the option should be on by default.

The national alerts shouldn't be blockable anyway.

@simonzerafa @purism they’re block able in my android

@chiefgyk3d @purism

The regional ones are apparently. National ones aren't supposed to be blockable.

@chiefgyk3d @simonzerafa

I just remembered:

There's also an option in bm818-tools to "enable CBS" IIRC.
Not super sure what it does, but the code would be somewhere around here: https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/bm818-tools

@chiefgyk3d @[email protected] Seems like that'd be a bug in iirc ModemManager

@chiefgyk3d

Have a look at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/ModemManager/-/issues/253 where some of our engineers have also posted.

So while it is not ideal the community is certainly aware of the issue :)

It would be great to have Cell broadcast supprt (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cell_Broadcast) since that seems to be used by the Wireless Emergency Alerts (
