Which one you do use among them? Comment below? 😄

@itsfoss Libreoffice mostly somestimes onlyoffice
@itsfoss
LibreOffice just works.
@itsfoss I tried OnlyOffice, but I used to do so many little adjustment and specific configurations on my documents on LibreOffice, that OnlyOffice was unable to handle correctly :/

@itsfoss used OnlyOffice but it was missing features and wasn't too reliable (spell checker wouldn't work either sometimes, which was rather significant).

Then used WPS office which I recently uninstalled. It would be really great if they didn't ruin it with millions of pop-ups, suggestions, recommendations, "AI" features push and constant nagging to log in. Also lately multiple times I couldn't edit or create a document because it wanted me to log in. Had to restart the suite to work again.

@itsfoss none of those 2 are FOSS, by the way.
@itsfoss I prefer working with markdown files in xed and typora but when i need it @libreoffice
@itsfoss I personally am a fan of OnlyOffice; I've switched to using it instead of my work-provided Microsoft Office on Windows, as well.

@itsfoss
Ha !
I would only use @libreoffice if it ( ... i know...) looked better. But the whole OOTB UI still looks very (bis repetita) old.
I also use @ONLYOFFICE but i dont like the fact that it overrides the OS look (KDE plasma) with its own.

Using Linux does not mean I have to like old looking office solutions.

Oh, and I'm very very much missing all FOSS excel/google spreadsheets alternatives to do XMLrequest ...

Just my personal 2 cents.
Have a nice day all.

@LenticularCloud
In #LibreOffice, have you tried "View / User Interface..." and selecting "Tabbed" instead of "Standard Toolbar"?
Or do you mean something else by "looking old"?
@itsfoss

@cosmin @LenticularCloud @itsfoss I've tried most of the different UIs in LibreOffice, but I agree that it still tends to look a bit dated.

It could be interesting if they ported over to GTK4, though. That might actually make things much better.

@itsfoss @LibreOffice. Writer, Calc and Draw are very good. Impress is slightly subpair in the package.
@itsfoss
Libreoffice on my own machines, Cryptpad on other people's.
@itsfoss #LibreOffice works for me, so I haven't tried any other
@itsfoss Typora for most writing and OnlyOffice
@itsfoss #zettlr to write using markdown and export in any format.
@itsfoss I am looking for an offline secure folder... A vault type thing that will work when I travel but may not have reception. I do have cryptomator but that is for cloud only.. I think..

@jellycrystals KeePassXC will be perfect for your use case.

https://keepassxc.org

It has a note storing feature. (offline)

KeePassXC Password Manager

KeePassXC Password Manager

@itsfoss Ahh. I have Keeper for that. I meant more for documents and passport pictures. Thanks for the reply. That app does look good!

@jellycrystals @itsfoss Cryptomator isn't just for cloud services!

To use it locally, just create the encrypted vault in your local filesystem and place all your documents inside that vault.

Encrypt Your Files Before Uploading it to Cloud With Cryptomator

Open source software highlight of this week is Cryptomator. It is a unique free and open-source encryption software that lets you encrypt your data before uploading it to the cloud. There are several cloud services available for Linux and almost all of them do not offer end to end encryption,

It's FOSS
@ProfessorCode @itsfoss Wow. I am a doofus. Thank you!
@ProfessorCode @jellycrystals Indeed! Thank you for helping them out. 😄
@itsfoss
libreoffice writer
@itsfoss So many LibreOffice users. I feel weird since I use OnlyOffice 😳
@itsfoss Cryptpad + OnlyOffice
@itsfoss
I find myself reluctantly using Google Docs for school.
@itsfoss
I agree. Office online wouldn't be bad, but our school system chose gapps.
@itsfoss Libre Writer, Abiword, or Calligra, depending on my mood.

@itsfoss I use OnlyOffice. Whenever I need to do some collaborative editing, I switch to Cryptpad.

Although I used to use LibreOffice in the past, it had a few issues that quite annoyed me.

@itsfoss i use libreoffice myself
