Any one familiar with #mahara?

I can't tell if is a thing each student runs for themself, or they pick one, or their school runs it, or their national gov or what.....

As a dev for a university should I make one for my students or should I supprt some existing one?

@abartlet @Br3nda @anitsirk Usually, an organisation sets it up or like with https://myportfolio.school.nz there is one for many institutions.

@bigblen @Br3nda I know a bit - mostly around webservice integration, though. I've never run a Mahara instance in the wild myself.

@anitsirk has been working on it for over a decade though - she would be the expert that I would be relying on :-)

@DrCuriosity @bigblen @Br3nda @anitsirk I run an instance... it's an institution-level service, where each student/staff member can have a profile on the same system.

Most institutions host an institutional instance. It's analogous to a Moodle instance.

@Br3nda typically #Mahara is run by an institution, e.g., here at The University of Waikato we offer students the ability to create an #ePortfolio on our Mahara server (although it's hosted for us by Catalyst) https://eportfolio.waikato.ac.nz/
