On the new Raspberry Pi 5, anyone had informations about power consumption and heat? #raspi5 #raspberrypi
Answering some questions about the Raspberry Pi 5 | Jeff Geerling

@ostueker @geerlingguy yes I saw Jeff video since my toot and there ´s a lot of details what make me sad is the high price regarding the lack of standard pcie connector: it will be +5$ + specific pcie adaptor! ARM won’t compete anymore regarding some chineeese mini pc like this one with ssd, 12gb, intel n100 for 100$ https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005006017181168.html ?

That Mini-PC indeed looks intriguing. Though it seems it doesn’t ship to Canada 🇨🇦 for some reason. 🤷‍♂️
I really like #RaspberryPi for their mature ecosystem and long term support.
I'm already very curious to see what cases, adapters and HATs will come out for the #Pi5. I’m toying with the idea of building my own NAS and I'm hoping that someone builds a board that has an M.2 slot for a NVMe (OS) and two SATA ports (data) for the Pi5's PCIe.

What’s the “best” (whether a #RasPi, another ARM or RISCV SBC or an x86 based mini-PC) entirely depends on what you want to do with it.
Run a small home-server, a media-player, retro-gaming box, build a NAS, etc.
For running a #PiHole or #ADSB tracker, even a #PiZeroW should be fast enough and that’s even less expensive and uses less power that most alternatives.
@ostueker @geerlingguy I agree Rpi were fantastics I got every release since first one always own them. But really, price, heat, distos support.I more and more questionning buy one more, regarding consumption, price of N100. My needs are mostly home lab (since 10 years), web self hosting at home since 2007. I’m hosting my blog https://it-wars.com at home, first on C3 Via, then on ARM Seagate Dickstar, Beaglebone, and now Rpi4. My target less Power consumption!
