This is a wonderful example of great actors committing to bring new facets to a character you seem to know well (Inspector Columbo) without alienating the character from himself or the audience. I love how he is attracted to her and almost seems to lose the thread, and then... ah. This is so good!

The "twist" like ending was like the cherry on the icing ... so beautiful. A real wow moment you don't expect in this type of formualic episodical TV.
