How do you negotiate with a group of clowns who don't even know what they want?

In previous shutdowns, there was a disagreement between a Republican Congress and a Democratic White House, or a Democratic Congress refusing to fund TFG's border wall.

Biden and House Republican leadership agreed on funding months ago. The bipartisan Senate will go along with it. It's House Republicans who can't agree with each other.

Vote them out in 2024. All of them.

Amid GOP confusion, U.S. braces for ‘first-ever shutdown about nothing’

What’s the deal with this government shutdown? In a standoff even Republicans are comparing to “Seinfeld,” it’s hard to tell.

@MariaHill

The gridlock*is* what they want.

@MariaHill This shutdown is about Kevin McCarthy's ego. When the headlines say he cannot get a deal, they leave out the part that he could get a deal with Democrats, but it'll cost him his Speaker position. He could sideline the wackos in his party, but instead, prefers to cling to the illusion of power, while kowtowing to the worst members of Congress. History will not be kind. Voters shouldn’t be, either.
@TonyStark @MariaHill
While Americans lose their lifelines, Congress still gets their paychecks.
@TonyStark They leave out the part that a deal was negotiated when they did the debt ceiling deal. I knew Kevin would go back on it. what a spineless, craven coward.
@PandaChronicle Kevin McCarthy, a record untainted by success.

@TonyStark @MariaHill A reminder that while everyone rages at McCarthy & his fellow House Republicans, it was their constituents that voted them all in each term.

The problem isn't McCarthy. It's the VOTERS of CA District 20. (Kern, Tulare, Kings & Fresno) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_20th_congressional_district
It isn't Margorie Taylor Greene. It's GA District 14. (Chattooga, Cobb, Dade, Floyd...) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia%27s_14th_congressional_district
It isn't Lauren Boebert. It's CO District 4. (Grand Junction, Pueblo) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado%27s_3rd_congressional_district

@kurtsh @MariaHill Someone else said something making this same point yesterday and I totally agree. There are people in those districts who aren’t exactly suppressed voting-wise and stick us with these incompetents. For “low taxes” or whatever their excuse is. Meanwhile, Republicans are terrible on the economy, terrible on crime, and terrible on health, education, and anything good you can name.
@kurtsh @TonyStark @MariaHill Don’t think you can overlook the effects of gerrymandering in all this as well. Not in CA and a few other states that have fair processes but a number of Republican led states engage in extreme gerrymandering, stitching together extremist voters into a majority in a number of districts. Wisconsin is a perfect example of this.
@GStuart @kurtsh @TonyStark Tony and I talk about this a lot. There are a couple of small, Democratic states that gerrymander too, namely Massachusetts and Maryland, but overall you have Democratic states like California and New York that have fair districts, and Republican-led ones that gerrymander Democrats out of getting seats. Heads they win, tails we lose is their game, and SCOTUS mostly goes along. The Alabama case is the exception, and we'll see how long that state flouts the ruling.

@MariaHill @GStuart @TonyStark Putting aside redistricting (which I personally don't know what anyone can actionably do), there existed a majority of voters that looked at MTG & Boebert and said, "Yeah, that's my girl."

Kevin McCarthy & Margorie Taylor Greene aren't up for relection until Nov 2024.

But Lauren Boebert is up for reelection June 25, 2024. Support her opponent, Adam Frisch here:

@kurtsh @GStuart @TonyStark

That's not quite correct. Every state has a primary sometime in 2024. California has a top-2 primary. McCarthy has to run in a field of all candidates on March 5. On Nov. 5, the top 2 vote-getters run. McCarthy will likely be one.

Colorado's primary is June 25th. Boebert is running against other Republicans that day, Frisch is running against other Democrats. Boebert will likely face Frisch on Nov. 5.

Greene's race is similar to Boebert's, with a May 21 primary.

@MariaHill @GStuart @TonyStark With that, I guess my question is what's actionable for citizens not in those districts to help make an impact?
❓ Where should they be donating to?
❓ What web site should they visit/subscribe to?
❓ What account should they amplify?
@kurtsh @TonyStark @MariaHill I couldn't agree more. American voters are dumbed down these days, spoiled rotten and at least half resemble some weird religious cult that has thrown out common sense. Most would not buy a car from the idiots they elect.
@kurtsh @TonyStark @MariaHill
It never fails to astound, right?
People voted for this woman.
On purpose.
No, seriously. They voted for her.
They looked at this horror show and said, "Oh, yeah. I gotta vote for that."
What does that say ?

@kurtsh @TonyStark @MariaHill In redistricting, we actually made CO-4 *more* R leaning. (For me, the same redistricting at least finally took us out of Ken Buck's district. Gawd ... all the bigotry of Boebert with some competence.)

So, it's a big deal that Frisch almost beat Boebert last time.

None of these are a Gym Jordan style district drawn specifically for him.
So, yes, the blame goes squarely on the voters who elect these POSs.

@MariaHill It's the extremist "Republican" goofdom caucus, that's torpedoing every effort to find any kind of common ground to prevent public disservice from harming the American people.
Adding to it anti-American, anti-constitutional extremist "Republicans'" underhanded plot to ditch their own House leader McCarthy.
