Question for the tech geeks, nerds and privacy guru's:

I asked this a few years ago. I got a few answers, but it was not completely satisfactory. Which #DNS provider do you advise, with the following requirements;

a. ad-blocking
b. not hosted or administered from the US or such
c. supports DNS-over-TLS (aka Private DNS in Android)
d. non-profit preferred
e. open-source preferred

I now use Adguard (hosted/admin in Cyprus afaik), but because it's a company I don't trust it for 100%. You also have Cloud 9 (hosted/admin in Switzerland), but they have no ad-blocking. Another option is NextDNS, but they are from the US. I refuse to use Cloudflare or Google.

So I found two providers that ticked all boxes. #Dismail and #dnsForge (from #adminForge). They both are located in Germany. They both provide #DNS-over-TL, but Dismail doesn't provide DNS-over-HTTPS, although that wasn't a requirement (still nice to have).

Does anyone use one of those? Reviews? Which do you prefer? Or are there similar alternatives?

They both are on the fediverse I see; @dismail and @adminforge. 😉 I have one question for both of you: is your DNS service run by an individual or by multiple persons (like a collective for instance)?
