@purplepadma @juneussell i joined the birdsite in 2007 and it took a long time to cut that cord completely, but it was so obviously ruined that it was a shell of what it had been. I miss what it used to be, although committing to this site has brought richness in other ways. It’s not the same, but it is its own thing. I can’t believe that meta has anyone’s best interests at heart and I simply can’t be arsed to split my effort and have no reason to so, so you’re stuck with me here!

@purplepadma @juneussell I do not miss the constant bad faith actors and the attempts to monetise me. Those reasons alone are enough for me to be here, I think.
I very much value the people I follow who boost loads of interesting stuff, and I include both of you in that category. It’s a nice change of emphasis to see people just promoting others because it’s interesting and fun.

@juneussell @swisslet Hmm I have found it quite difficult to build a community here. I see there is already more going on there in terms of a MH community. But here I have real friendships
@purplepadma @swisslet Yea I do too. Perhaps what I should’ve said was “build a following”. I have absolutely no interest in that, anywhere.
@juneussell @swisslet I do want to build a following on Bluesky, but only for the interactions it can bring. Not interested in getting competitive over follower stats like people used to in the other place. Just want a network of people to inform my research, that was the good bit of over there
