Here's the truth about tax cuts for the rich.

They explode the federal debt, fuel giant profits at the biggest firms and financial institutions, and stoke a surge in billionaire wealth but do nothing for average working people.

Nothing trickles down.

@rbreich as I've said before. Trickle down economics uses the same logic as believing your kids will eat their veggies if you give them dessert first.
@rbreich
Tax cuts for the rich were instituted to show how government doesn't work.
@rbreich fb is a neverescape place for people Like us;
tw was all the cherry fun;
x, is something truly Different.
and lastly and mostly, MASTODON is where I found my First Love
@rbreich
But the Creators create jobs - for bodyguards, private armies, and all-purpose thugs. The Pinkertons did well during the first year Gilded Age, and their ancestors are making out like bandits.
@rbreich The federal debt is the only thing that trickles down.
@rbreich The real welfare class. Tax them into nonexistence.
@rbreich American fools still believe in trickle down. In Las Vegas they are going to tax the citizens to build a ballpark for the Oakland A's. Yet this is just another BS trickle down scam. The NV Governor Lombardo who is a pig says it will bring jobs.. My rear, he's another Republican liar.
@rbreich Wanda Sykes got it right: nothing good ever trickles down.
@rbreich welcome to USA!! Where you been for the last 235 years?
@rbreich When I look at various pricing pressures from housing to restaurants, I see sellers able to price things according to the wealthiest who can afford it. It skews everything.
@rbreich There is one additional aspect: exploding federal dept means no money to support the poor, make education accessible etc, which produces lots of people who need to work for very low wages and can easily be exploited to fuel the rich.

@Lapizistik @rbreich

It is easier to comprehend the thinking of conservatives once you realize that their way of life depends on the existence of an underclass.

@rbreich Tax cuts for the wealthy also never, ever pay for themselves.
@rbreich As a non-US resident, from the outside, your political system is a complete mess. The 2 party system has zero ability to facilitate the range of options needed in a healthy democracy. The polarisation created by that system is breaking societal norms. Unfortunately I can’t see a way out for the US. Capitalism wins but society and humanity loses.

@rbreich

In debt now the commoners drown
With oligarchs wearing the crown
They don't pay their dues
Shrugging "You snooze, you lose!"
And we know only shit trickles down

@rbreich The great grift. Trump’s grifting pales in comparison to Reagan, who started the trickle down myth.
@rbreich Trickle down has never worked and it never will. But still people keep believing that lie.
@rbreich CAUSE I HAVE NOT FELT A DROP.
@rbreich I have come to the conclusion that they all KNOW it is baloney, and that 'trickle down' is just a label on the bottle of snake oil they sell to the gullible and to give the appearance of plausible reason.
