I wish more people could get it right.

The ultra rich are not wealth creators, they are wealth extractors & wealth hoarders. Everytime the cost of several new schools and hospitals gets spaffed away on lux mansions, private jets, Mediterranean super yachts etc it is a disinvestment in society, a misallocation of increasingly finite resources.

Each new billionaire is evidence of society failing.

Which makes us feel better?

Buying a new product?
Or
Doing something nice for someone?

The second makes me feel better for longer. I'm also increasingly aware the second often often has small or no money component. There's no wealth to be extracted & diverted to the billionaires endless greed.
#DefundTheBillionaires
People are fond of saying "Kindness costs nothing". Actually I think that can be wrong.

Kindness costs the billionaires.

Anytime we're focused on happier experiences, not monetised experiences, we are opting out of their system. Opting out of the relentless ad drives for rampant consumerism. Consumerism which fails to fill empty holes in our lives. We're opting out of the whole pyramid scam that the billionaire class are increasingly pushing our societies towards.

@ArtBear
We would agree, but money is needed by people. Instead of demonising monetising things we should be asking where our money goes, what is it encouraging when we spend on some 'x' or 'y' thing?

We can democratise our world by choosing #SOLE (sustainable, #organic, local, ethical).

The #ShopEthical website is a good one. Putting aside the fact they give (Sc)Amazon an 'F'-rating and yet use (Sc)Amazon to host the site.

Btw our instance is going down, no funds for a year.

@dsfgs
It's not that money is inherently bad.

However making people stressed and isolated so they self-soothe with consumer behaviour is short term profitable, yet long term unsustainable and terrible for people, societies & planetary systems.

@ArtBear

> It's not that money is inherently bad.

Truth be told fiat currency is inherently bad, its political money printed as debt to bankers, such bankers include "Sir" Montagu Norman who governed the Bank Of England and who supported Nazi Germany, and echos into today. But yes, that derails the conversation into talking about the ethical alternatives to fiat, like bitcoin, and noone wants to talk about that.

Have a great day!
