The EG.5.* "Eris" variant (40%) has become dominant. XBB.2.3.* "Acrux" (23%) is also rising.

The specific lineage driving the EG.5.* growth is EG.5.1.1 (27%).

The specific lineage driving the XBB.2.3.* growth is GE.1 (19%). GE.1 adds the Spike K478R mutation to XBB.2.3.10.

Sample volumes have improved somewhat for August. But they are still reporting about the lowest volume of any Australian state, despite NSW having the largest population.
