Tried figuring this out the obvious ways, but #Google's online help makes my brain scream and life's too short.

How do you delete pics / videos from an #Android device without them disappearing from the online backup thing at the same time? I tried it with a test file and the backup vanished a well. TIA...

Shouldn't "delete from device" work?
And then there is the cleanup method, which deletes all backuped local photos.
