The miracle #Hand386: it lasted all day at my table at #VCFMW yesterday playing demos with a #PicoGUS attached to it. I've always heard it draws more power than the power port can provide so it's always using the battery but it did fine for 14 hours! I kinda wonder if the IPS screen swap I did means it uses less power?

That's really weird. I have the same IPS swap and I did a test about a week ago and only got 4 hours out of it. Are you using the USB brick it came with?

I really want to get my hands on the #Hand386 amd #Book8088 simply because they are nifty machines...

All I need for those would be an #ISA-based dock with stuff like the #TexElec #QuadFlop and ISA #XTIDE controller and some #Ethernet card that does at least #10BaseT...

@flyingsaceur @polpo In theory, one could add an #RTC with one of those RTC Chips that exist and some conversions from SPI to ISA...

Let me.know if you found/made something that does that.

@kkarhan @polpo apparently it was pretty common to put in something like the AST SixPakPlus to provide memory, I/O, and a battery backed RTC. So I could put one of those into the Book ISA breakout but that would be kind of silly. If someone makes a clone of that with an RP2040, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. All part of period accurate problems I guess

Maybe @rasteri and @foone would be interested in taking a closer look at it.

Considering they did somewhat work on the #wee86 / #WeeCee's sound solution based off #PC104 / #ISA that could be in the realm of possibilities, tho both Wee86 & WeeCee do have an RTC and only need a battery hooked up to the correct pins to just work out of the box...
