To everyone working on open-source, open-data #maps projects: good news from Europe this week! On Wednesday, the European Commission designated 22 'core platform services' by 6 organizations (Google, Apple, Amazon, TikTok, Facebook and Microsoft) that will have to comply with extra regulations for large tech companies as part of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). And #GoogleMaps is one of the 22 services!
This means it will become easier in the future to establish competitors to Google Maps.
