If you’re switching to #Firefox, remember Firefox is not private by default. Consider the #LibreWolf fork, which is. Otherwise, go into your settings and adjust its tracking features (like having #Google as the default search engine), turn off telemetry, “experiments”, etc.

(Also, if you all switch and Google goes bankrupt, #Mozilla will go bankrupt too because they exist thanks to half a billion dollars a year from Google. So remember Google must survive for Mozilla to survive.)

#chrome

@aral mozilla will have a dire time if google goes away for sure
@aral "You can also install LibreWolf via a .dmg, but please note that this method requires to apply updates manually." way to invite people to use it. At least the "download" button isn't just a link to github.
@maxwainwright Yeah, I didn’t say it was perfect, only that it exists :)
@aral Yeah, I should try it if shopify and my bank accept it. Or just run them in Safari, I guess, they don't run ads anyway.
I'm just tired of people putting their software online and just not put up executables. I'm sure there's a reason, but it's a reason only developers understand.
@maxwainwright
it's a pain to setup CI for it (something that cargo-dist does, with great ease, for Rust)

@tshepang @aral @Gankra was this meant for me..? I don’t know what those things are anyway
@aral On Android, Fennec has some of this stuff removed too:

@mjj @aral I use fennec and it's very good! There's also mull, which is essentially Librewolf for Android (it comes significantly more hardened and with a full security and privacy oriented config), but it only runs at 60 hertz and has very inconsistent frame timing so it's nauseating for me to use
@aral And if, for any reason, you can't install #LibreWolf, you can use this customized user.js file (#Betterfox) : https://github.com/yokoffing/Betterfox

Unfortunately #LibreWolf is available only as AMD64 and there is not an armV7 option available...

I'll try to compile it by myself...

@aral and that LibreWolf disappears if Mozilla does...
@spyro I suppose as a full fork it will continue on it's own, yes, if it has no dependency on up-stream updates
