Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
2023

Averse to superhero movie gigantomania and the MCU in particular, the Guardians series is an entertaining blessing for me. Maybe it's because the characters are already created in such a way that they don't take themselves too seriously, or because there's an incredible amount of good music to listen to.

There's a lot of good stuff in this issue, too, between Rainbow, the Beastie Boys and Florence and the Machine.

Although this time it's Rocket's heartbreaking backstory, each character has their moments. It almost seems like a finely balanced play by James Gunn, the long fight scene in slow motion alone is a feast for the eyes. Anyway, the animations and depiction of animal creatures are pretty well done.

Disney can take a cue from their own product here on how a Lion King with humanized animals in CGI could work.

Aside from a few physical inconsistencies and kitsch, the film is good popcorn cinema entertainment. I like it better than the second part and maybe even a tad better than the first.
