Sometimes there’s a shot that just pops and I feel like I actually know what I’m doing. Then there’s the 3000 shots in between. (; Sorry, let’s stay positive!

I hadn’t expected this shot. I was basically ‘going through the motions’ in that I was trying to get more consistent in how I’d create more work. I’ve begun to feel like the rust has finally begun to fall off after taking basically a 3 year break from my photography to pursue more ‘useful’ career paths.

So, I got up this morning and biked over to #lakewhatcom for sunrise. I do like that I don’t have to get up at 3am for that anymore. Totally stoked for the autumn colors coming in the next few weeks.

I found this… circle of stones that were creating this focus point for me that I just loved. I hoped I could get the angle similar to a previous shot I had gotten at #lakepadden a few weeks ago but I wasn’t liking the forced perspective.

I also didn’t want to include a beam coming out of the water in this shot. Oh the pains of having my wide lens back.

Again, I didn’t even know I got this shot before I left. I was just trying to get the shots in while the #goldenhour was happening and then I wanted to get home and make some breakfast. Then this shot just stopped me and forced me to edit it. Needed a break after that cause I knew I had a gem. So happy to share this with you all!
