🌀 Here it is, captured on radar! 🌬️⛈️🌊

#Typhoon #Haikui is set to become the first #TropicalCyclone to make landfall in #Taiwan in more than 4 years (previous one was Tropical Storm Bailu on August 24, 2019), and the first typhoon to do so in almost 6 years (previous one was Typhoon Nesat on September 29, 2017).

#Typhoon #Haikui has come and gone. It made #landfall in #Taitung County, #Taiwan, at 15:40, packing winds up to 105kts/121mph/194kph, along with heavy rain. It exited from #Kaohsiung into the sea at 20:00.

During its 5-hour traversal across the island, it caused 355 road-blocking downed trees, 44 injuries, 31 areas of flooding, power outage for 120k units, and water outage for 5k units.

Work and school is suspended in 14 counties and municipalities on Monday.

Winds from #Typhoon #Haikui were strong enough to drag toppled motorcycles several meters on asphalt in #Taitung.
@chunshek OMG, the motorbike!
@lazurloner
對啊,超扯!
@chunshek 一台機車很重耶...
@lazurloner
一台正常站著停的機車被風吹倒也算了;這海葵是把已經吹倒、重心基本上已經貼地的機車吹移呢!怕怕!
@chunshek How are things where you are CS?
@thefalcon
I live up north which is thankfully not too affected, apart from more-than-usual branches and leaves on the streets. No work suspension either, so I'll definitely feel the Monday blues! (But better that than all the devastation down south 😓)
