British Writer Pens The Best Description Of Trump I’ve Read - London Daily

“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:

London Daily
@kennzaney1 So to summarize that excellent write-up: He's a fuckmuppet.
@kennzaney1 I especially liked: "He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum"
@briankrebs @kennzaney1 yes I liked that part, too. All in all the description seems accurate.

@briankrebs
@kennzaney1

"There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. .. We see it as having no inner world, no soul."

This is the description that resonates with my perception of him and drives the existential dread of what to do if he gains any power ever again. He is just a personal-power seeking P-zombie. Completely unaware, un-self-aware.

@wryanfisher @briankrebs @kennzaney1 Good point, well made. Now imagine someone else with the same scruples but with a mind to use them effectively.

Fuck.

@briankrebs @kennzaney1 The two things I most noted from that piece were:

1) It was written in a hurry; a stream of consciousness. Well-written, sure, but could have been *extra*.

2) The prick was holding back.

@briankrebs @kennzaney1 If that isn't in his NYT obit, then they're doing a disservice to the English language.
@kennzaney1 “…..if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws- he would make a Trump”. 🤣🤣
@kennzaney1 One of my favs is "Trump is the physical manifestation of all 7 Deadly Sins"

@kennzaney1 he sounds to me like the cliché "used car salesman".

But I get why people like him. He tells them what they want to hear even if its the dumbest thing ever. Since it's a dumb policy (e.g. the border wall), he is the only person saying what they think. Finally, they have "proof" that they aren't stupid because a "billionaire" is also saying that...

Once they accept that it's really hard to climb out of that due to confirmation bias.

@kennzaney1 the history of this piece is interesting. it was a quora answer written in 2019, but that thread was deleted so no source links remain. https://timpanogos.blog/2019/06/24/nate-whites-stunning-answer-to-the-question-why-do-many-british-people-not-like-donald-trump/ the author is still active on quora: https://www.quora.com/profile/Nate-White-44
Nate White’s stunning answer to the question: Why do many British people not like Donald Trump?

It was a question asked on Quora last February 12 [2019]: Why do many British people not like Donald Trump? Nate White is a London-based copy writer — that is, advertising guy. His Quora prof…

@bruceoberg @kennzaney1 Thanks. I thought I was going crazy. I would have sworn I’d read this nearly word for word back when he was still president so I was shocked to see it dated today…
@kennzaney1 brutal but fair. Perfect description of how amazed I am that so many like trump
@kennzaney1 “Shakespeare of shit” should catch on.

@kennzaney1

But this is the kicker, I literally laughed out loud:

if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump

@kennzaney1 This is s MUST READ. Always punching down perfectly explains the man. #jerk #cad #toad #ogre #spiteful #troll

@kennzaney1

Unfortunately it's not quite true. The British have the Conservative party, after all, and those in office these days are cut from much the same cloth.

@kennzaney1 "(He is) a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead."
@kennzaney1
This was written a few years back, when Trump was still POTUS, I read it then. I think it's in the bookmarks on my other browser. Glad to see it's having a replay! Wonderful stuff!
@kennzaney1 Such an accurate description.

@kennzaney1

Great description of trump—thanks for sharing it!
Yeah, whatever happened to the conventional wisdom that people vote for the guy they’d like to have a beer with? trump is nothing like that!
#trump

@kennzaney1 I love this. It’s been around for awhile & has always been spot-on.
@kennzaney1 that seems to be a bit too rosy eyed towards what the British like and value, considering we elected Boris…

@kennzaney1

>"Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever."

I always found it stupidly absurd when various late night hosts, incl. John Oliver but esp. Colbert and Kimmel, espoused Trump was funny. I do get where they are coming from but that is such an abhorrently low standard.
As such it's quite satisfying to see someone judging Trump's sense of humor—or the lack thereof—even more harshly.

@kennzaney1 followed by a pretty standard sock puppet/useful idiot scripted response. You're so mean to the bully it makes me feel like punching my own face for him.
@kennzaney1 ..“ He’s more a fat white slug“ - yes ☝️
@kennzaney1 Somehow I don't believe the commenter called " Bob" is a real person.
@kennzaney1 He's the embodiment of the authoritarian personality as described by Adorno in 1950. His F-scale score must be off the charts.
