I'm pushing my and others' music today in particular b/c it's #BandcampFriday again, where #Bandcamp waives their 15% cut of musician's sales so we get a little bit more ๐Ÿ’ต support directly from all YOU lovely cool hip people who buy our tracks!

If you love #music, please find some of your favorite indie artists on Bandcamp and give them some ๐Ÿ’ธ support!

For as little as $1 you can make an artist's day and give them dopamine.   #NewMusic

As you can see from this chart, artists make a pittance from streams. Even when someone buys a track through a retailer like iTunes, we often get less than half that ๐Ÿ’ต once the retailer and digital distributor get their cut.
#Bandcamp is the best way to buy music digitally for most indie artists who don't have their own store set up (which has its own costs & administrative headaches).
And #BandcampFriday is even better--same price for you, but a bigger cut for the artists!
#NewMusic

It also usually costs money to get our music up on streaming services. We must go through a digital distributor (a middle man).

There is typically a service/admin fee, which varies, and they also often take a cut of that pittance of sales!
I paid $9.99 for each track to put it on streaming services, AND my distributor gets a cut of revenue (which varies according to what type of use--streaming platform vs. FB, Instagram, YT, TikTok) mechanical licenses, etc. #BandcampFriday #NewMusicFriday

@KydiaMusic Lol my DistroKid bank has like $0.70 in it and thatโ€™s for all time ๐Ÿ˜‚ Bandcamp FTW!
@socool @KydiaMusic Same here. I donโ€™t think I have ever taken money out from the service I use for getting my music on streaming. Thatโ€™s why I canceled it and Iโ€™m going to let it expire.
