These absurd "abortion trafficking" laws are not meant to be 100% enforceable. They are meant to create fear and confusion around aiding abortion-seekers, leaving them isolated and alone.

Highways are the next antiabortion target. One Texas town is resisting.

A new ordinance, passed in several jurisdictions and under consideration elsewhere, aims to stop people from using local roads to drive someone out of state for an abortion

@evacide
They will absolutely be enforced unevenly on people the police don't like, though. That's just the reality of the situation, and shouldn't be glossed over even if the primary goal is to fearmonger. They will do things with it, and it will be very bad for people caught by it.

@evacide

It’s called terrorism. And just getting started.

@evacide I suspect they're also intended to make people of color nervous, since they're always subject to deeper scrutiny by the sorts of Whites who go in for this shit.
@evacide Fuck. They're actually trying it.
@evacide
It also creates a culture of fear. You don't know who will rat you out for a settlement. It's so Stasi.
@evacide we should call nutjobs like Dickson "birth traffickers".
@evacide Anti-abortionist attempts to block interstate traffic on highways goes against the U.S. Constitution’s Commerce Clause (Article I, Section 8.3). The Commerce Clause puts Congress in charge of regulating interstate business; so, states aren’t allowed to simply ban their citizens from traveling interstate to do business elsewhere, unless Congress approves. Otherwise, you’d never see casino ads or fireworks stores near borders of states that prohibit gambling and fireworks.
@evacide Also, they're meant to be a check on free movement and a means for law enforcement to stop you for any reason.
@evacide refugees in one’s own country.
