🎫 In 2014 Phil Hutcheon started a concert ticketing business called Dice. The idea was to sell tickets in a way that would support artists and venues while giving punters a fair deal. It's almost impossible to resell tickets bought through Dice for more than you paid for them.

Here's a fascinating half-hour chat with founder Phil Hutcheon. Gap Finder on BBC Sounds https://bbc.in/45IRJWy

You and Yours - Gap Finders: Phil Hutcheon from Dice - BBC Sounds

We meet a man on a self-proclaimed mission to change how we buy gig tickets for good.

@BBCRadio4 Such a shame that in order to buy tickets for a gig through Dice you have to use their app and hand over shedloads of your personal data. I’ve sadly had to miss gigs by bands I like because I’m not prepared to do so.
@BBCRadio4 It's weird how the whole rest of the tech sector is super-keen on DRM and locking things down except when it comes to tickets and all of a sudden it's "oh, that's impossible to fix: have our thoughts and prayers". I guess it's because in this case they can make money from *not* having DRM.
@BBCRadio4 Y dónde está pirín?

@BBCRadio4
Will definitely be listening to this.

How to fairly monetise the work of artists, musicians, specialist journalists and TV / film writers is one of the key issues of our time.

What streaming and social media have done to destroy the livelihood of these professions should be the death throes of corporate greed controlling the intellectual output of humanity.
