I was dimly aware that Age of Empires II had a really well-done modern remaster, and was getting new and updated content as if it were a current title. I was unprepared for just how beautiful it all looks at 4K, however! I know every asset has been completely redone, but the art design really holds up. I would *love* to see more 2D classics like Red Alert 2 get the same kind of high-quality treatment, with remastered assets and brand-new DLC campaigns. Revisit and continue games long-abandoned
I need to find some nice ready-made maps to take some better screenshots, but I'm very impressed so far. In an industry that is so often filled with quick and dirty cash-grabs, it's real nice to see a labor of love like this. Two thumbs up for Age of Empires II Definitive Edition (…which is $5 in the Steam sale this week!)
@stroughtonsmith So many childhood memories. Looks gorgeous! I *think* I’d love this on the iPhone so I can play it when I have some time here and there.
@simonbs @stroughtonsmith Back in the day, I thought things like 3D touch would've translated well for a game like Age…
@simonbs @stroughtonsmith All I want is some age of empires on iPad.

@stroughtonsmith the game still has a pretty active community, even before Definitive Edition. Definitely the most active of the whole franchise.

They also have tournaments with not too bad price money. Its actually quite fun to watch.

@stroughtonsmith also plays really well on a controller
@stroughtonsmith RA2 and AOE2 were part of my childhood. I’m currently watching this hilarious series: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGVjiUKVQd71XMHgNZpREVz3rxwEgApiK&si=J5ZGJXr3UgBTLZ3a

@stroughtonsmith Thanks for the sale info, just bought it!

Been playing AOE4 recently, but looking forward to taking a stroll down memory lane.

Great memories of 3 friends and I getting together at one house for weekend LAN party, with our Tower PC’s, CRT monitors, and a Netgear hub. Play all day, crash, wake up and do it all over again.
