I've been playing Pokémon Tetris for the Pokémon Mini so much recently, it's an underrated gem! It's Tetris that we all know and love, except every time you successfully clear four lines at once, you can capture the Pokémon that appears on screen.

Initially these Pokémon will be silhouettes, but as you capture them, they will be revealed. If you want to catch all 249 Pokémon available in the game, you'll have to play the different modes on various difficulties.

This game was only sold in Japan and Europe, but this one came from Portugal! Sadly, there's a huge dirty sticker on the back of it I can't remove without damaging the cardboard box, and I'm not brave enough to try it.

Pokémon Tetris isn't a very well documented game online, and I hope that changes. It's definitely a worthy title!

@johto I don't know if I've ever seen the Pokemon Mini before - that's really cool! I would've loved something like that as a kid. I had quite the Digimon collection, plus the Pokemon Pikachu Color, original Pokedex, some Tamagotchi, and a Scannerz.

I loved handheld LCD games. 😁

@dHeinemann Yeah it was such a great little device!

@johto @dHeinemann First time I hear of the Pokémon Mini. It was a console just for Pokémon games? How was it different from the gameboy?

I wonder if there was an emulator...

@onajusteunevie @dHeinemann Hey! It's similar in how it was an official Nintendo handheld that took cartridges, but that's about it. It was Pokémon branded, so only official Pokémon licensed games came out on it. It wasn't as powerful as a Game Boy, however it ran on a single battery for many hours, and had rumble built in! It came in three colours, and didn't really stick around for very long.

@simonlc Hi Simon thanks for reaching out! I'm happy to see that someone has been compiling information together about the game. I guess I would really like to know the original conditions of receiving a Mew and Celebi, and which regions of Europe it released in (I remember hearing it was Portugal only?)

Keep up the great work!
