@neonsnake @passenger @mike805 @gruff @Radical_EgoCom @cstross That’s an interesting point, Dick, (I’m assuming you were signing your name there). I’m trying to suggest there is nuance here, but clearly failing. It looks as though Mastodon is becoming twitter.

@davidemmerson @neonsnake @mike805 @gruff @Radical_EgoCom @cstross

Mastodon is what it's always been: a federated collection of people creating stuff for one another's enjoyment, with no owners, overall government or monopoly of force.

There's a word for that.

That word is also associated with a specific attitude to cops, and fascists, and transphobes.

The latter two don't get nuance either.

@passenger @neonsnake @mike805 @gruff @Radical_EgoCom @cstross I’m not sure what point you’re making there, but I know what Mastodon is. It’s a fair point, I’ve recently had a standup row in the street with TERFs protesting their repellent position. I suppose the difference is that homophobes, transphobes, etc. are defined by their awful views on a specific topic. I don’t believe that people joining the police are. OP clearly disagrees. They don’t appear to be interested in conversation, though.

@davidemmerson @neonsnake @mike805 @gruff @Radical_EgoCom @cstross

To be clear, I agree with OP. There are no good cops, just as there are no good Taliban members. If a member of the Taliban decides to carry a little old lady's groceries home for her one afternoon, it doesn't override which group they joined.
