@nixCraft That's just the thing. Theoretically I'm not opposed to such a system, as long as it's voluntary.
The problem is, if it catches on, it won't stay voluntary for long. Soon you'll need your stupid Billy-ID to sign into social media, to use random websites, etc... It won't stop.
Then, at some point in the future, it will be used to oppress.
Just, no.
Biometric cookies. Windows 11 has dived into the ads business.
@nixCraft 🙄 If he wants to reassure people that he isn't putting 5G nanotech in vaccines, this isn't a good look.

@nixCraft "Digital IDs are an effective tool against poverty." - I have my doubts about that one. Jobs, education, appropriate wages and public healthcare seem to me more helpful.
A digital id on the other hand is perfect for big tech and data brokers that wants to monetize on consumer data. And for the spooks too of course.
@nixCraft We must first prove what he did with Jeffrey Epstein.

@nixCraft Sorry Bill, this would violate my State's #Constitution, which includes the right to #Privacy
[Art.] 2-b. [Right of Privacy.] An individual's right to live free from governmental intrusion in private or personal information is natural, essential, and inherent.

WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?
We are born and exist already. What’s the point + purpose of digital Id, who maintains it and who is going to be marginalized? - https://mastodon.social/@dahukanna/110644249992441182
@nixCraft in Spain we have required official ID's (fortunately they are not required for everything, but every fiscal & official transaction requires it). For long time I assumed this was something normal until I knew long standing democracies don't have it, and the spanish one it's a legacy of the Franco's dictatorship.
As long as you can, keep that away from you.
@nixCraft what am I missing here? Living in Denmark I had a physical 2-factor one time passcode card that was eventually replaced with a digital NemID and then MitID app.
I was able to authenticate to multiple government, phone, bank and other systems and never once had to go through the stupid "prove you are really you" every time I logged in.
Oh, and I had a secure, end-to-end encrypted email box along with a secure certificate I could use for signing.
It was fantastic, really!
Not going to happen. He is nuts.
