Sunset at Hope Cove. I took the photo 10 years ago and had it in my mind to paint it in gouache, so here it is. I’ve spent a lot of time there in the past, and I’ve got family connections there. This painting was done for me to stretch myself and try things, and as a result has issues in it. Hence I don’t expect to get many likes, but I always show my work even my bad paintings so you can learn. Gouache on Arches paper one quarter imperial in size. #gouache #watercolour #hopecove #devon #art
My grandparents lived here during WW2. My dad was there and met my mother there. He got captured by the Commandos on that hill in a training exercise 😆.

there is something i learned years ago from a random internet person that i took to heart:

only you see the path it took to get there and the mistakes made along the way. everyone else only sees the finished work, so if they enjoy it, let them, don't tell about the mistakes, because if ultimately they enjoy it, do the mistakes really matter?

@Chloeg

at the end of the day it boils down to the ol' beauty in the eye of the beholder thing. Personally i love this painting. I'm no artist to criticize, but does that matter? :)

@Chloeg Well, i'm really impressed by it. I especially love the sea, both the foam and the still part with reflections on it!
