I’m supporting the CSIRO (Australia research council) booth at #URSI (radio science conference) in Sapporo this week! This is part of @futuremeetings, where we’ve developed a virtual reality experience where you can explore models of the radio telescopes & the engineering components that make the astronomy so successful!

That said, putting up those posters yesterday nearly broke me and the entire legitimacy of the radio component of the electromagnetic spectrum was questioned before I was done.

Action shots through the week! Everyone seemed to enjoy exploring the #VR exhibit, from people new to radio astronomy through to the engineering experts who liked being able to see the expanding components of the radio array. When our youngest visitor took off the headset, his eyes were like saucers and he just mouthed “wow”! If he becomes a famous radio astronomer, I think we should take credit 😂
@elizabethtasker This is great! Any plans to make this available on the Meta Quest store?
@realities it’s actually just hosted on spatial.io (which is on the Quest store), but at the moment, we’ve not advertised the link publicly sp we can use it for these events. Might change in the future though!
@elizabethtasker Thanks! Let me know if it becomes something I should review.
