rlonsteinI'm very disappointed that my daily driver keyboard a #tex #shinobi isn't holding up after just 2.5 years. I love the 7-row #ibm #thinkpad layout with real keyswitches. I was okay with the print on the keycaps wearing off and getting shiny in a few weeks (ABS, it's expected) but lately the large keys wobble and pop off, other than the spacebar they lack stabilizers. Now the trackpoint is stuttering and drifting on its own.
For comparison to the short life on the #tex #shinobi I pulled out my 9-year-old #KeyedUpLabs KUL-ES87 (with Cherry MX Green keyswitches). I used it daily for several years then passed it to my wife who used it daily until last year when she switched to a #GMMK with Cherry MX Red switches.
I gave the KUL a thorough cleaning and it's still great. It still has a superior firmness, no flex in the backplate or wobble in any keys.
Going to try a #Keycron Q3 (wired) with Gateron Pro Brown switches. 🤞 If the switch isn't heavy enough I'll swap in a set of Gateron Greens or Kailh Box Navy.
