The Stop Making Sense remaster was not at all what I thought it was.
Apparently it's theaters-only. ā¹ļø
However, there is a remastered and expanded version of the album, including a couple of tracks that weren't on the previous version.
@caseyliss If you want to get down and dirty with an analysis of the remaster and how the loudness wars have affected it (and I completely understand why you absolutely wouldnāt want to do that), I recommend these two videos from John Darko:

Thanks Stuart, that was fun - and very disappointing that the engineers felt the need to further dynamically compress this performance.
@caseyliss I went to the remastered Imax version last night and it included a live stream of the Spike Lee Q&A from the Toronto International Film Festival. It was incredible and the sound was loud and š¤Æ. Looks like it opens to a wider release on September 22ndā¦definitely recommend seeing it if you can find a theatre near you: https://tickets.stopmakingsense.movie/
Watch gave me a couple warnings:
Watch the trailer, find screenings & book tickets for Stop Making Sense on the official site. Now playing in IMAX, everywhere September 29 brought to you by A24 Films. Directed by: Jonathan Demme. Starring: David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison.
@caseyliss Did you see Darkos commentary on Vinyls versus digital for this exact album? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3OqVUsqkh8&t=774s
Something interesting about compression levels and dynamic range differences between Vinyl and Digital files
@caseyliss I saw both the tour and the film on first theatrical release in a Cinerama Dome back in the day, and Iām wondering- did the setlists differ? Did home media versions drop or add a song to fit?
I donāt think so, nor do I think it really mattered.
Iām not always fond of 35mm 1.85 ratio shoots being upscaled to iMax. I think a lot of the original prints were exhibited in the āhuge screen theatresā to ensure a good sound system
@caseyliss there is a top-shelf podcast interview about this, where the non-Byrne members explain that he didn't care that they played Tom Tom Club songs in the set, because this let him change costumes.
Also, my father wrote a book where the cover is the concert set from True Stories (watch it if you havenāt).
Finally. Didn't quite make the original "summer" release they talked about.
I remember seeing this in the theatre as a youngster - blew me away! The album is still on regular rotation for me, and the DVD is on the shelf :)
Talking about the Heads - this might be a good time for a reminder of Angelique Kidjoās re-creation of "Remain in Lightā. Track by track, she brings the afrobeat home in force with Tony Allen on drums. Wonderful energy!
