@smartomato @wolf480pl @kkarhan Yeah I think ISPs just hate enthusiasts, especially those who self-host anything.

They either gave me a flat "no" or ghosted me when I contacted them, so I had to plug in a laptop between their provided router and the modem to run wireshark and figure out how to get my own router. Turns out that in my case I only needed to use VLAN 10 on WAN and spoof their router's mac address. But I'm worried it'll be worse at the new place I'm moving to in September

@quad @wolf480pl yeah, that sould's horrible...

I guess #Norway doesn't have strong #NetNeutrality and #DeviceFreedom as per #telco #laws then?

@kkarhan @wolf480pl Norway isn't really /that/ bad.

We just have some typical old practices hanging around. Like how we don't own our internet router and can't really do jack to it. And the fact that we're vendor locked to ISP that installed the fiber cable in our home.

But elsewhere in the telco game we're mostly fine. Stuff like having your phone tied to your mobile plan, or being forced into a TV bundle when buying internet isn't really a thing over here
