Re: last boost - If you're in #Malaysia please do give it a watch. Last day tomorrow in the major chains, I just found out (and it only came out on the 10th - our local theatres don't actually care about incubating local films). I was gonna save it for the weekend and did think the trailer switched a lot of registers, but friends who have watched said that it's genuinely good. So please go, if you can.

Synopsis: Hungry Ghost Diner explores the heartfelt meaning behind the Hungry Ghost Festival through the eyes of its intrepid protagonist Bonnie Lam who discovers that her family’s coffee shop is haunted by ghosts of her dead relatives returning for the annual Ghost Festival at rural Behrang Stesen, Perak.

Update on the above movie: the supposed gossip is that the theatres didn't think anyone would be watching this when Hungry Ghost season starts (then ... Why.... Schedule it... Like this?) But it will be functionally gone from the screens - at best you'll get one or two shows in the day in a handful of screens in Klang Valley so give Hungry Ghost Diner a go while you can.

@cendawanita I watched it last week. It's ok, nothing groundbreaking but the sheer amount of dialects/languages crammed into the movie is impressive.

But with this and Imanginur, I really do like this wave of trippy experimental Malaysian cinema.

If you're in Klang Valley apparently the distro managed to work out to save for a few screens but all remaining shows is like 1-2 daily at daytime but yeaaaa 😣

@cendawanita Thankfully one afternoon screening is near me so I guess that's Saturday's plans firmed up! I did hear about the movie via an interview they had with BFM, but I didn't realise that its run would be cut short so quickly...
