I'd like to start a #ClimateChange action group among my friends, family, colleagues and neighbors to talk about climate news, read and discuss climate change books, and mutually encourage climate action.

How do I do this?

I'd love to find a program like WorkForClimate, which helps employees form green teams in corporate workplace, but for personal groups.

An idea for something concrete to do together with your family & friends: Every fall Otto Scharmer at MIT has an online course for change makers called U.lab, "Leading fron the emerging future". When I took it there were 11,000 enrolled, from all over the world.

You do exercises in groups of five, and you can join "hubs" that are focused on particular topics. Many hubs dealt with climate-related issues. I took the course with four (local) friends; it was awesome. The book is also good.
